Dee Washer lives in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico but grew up in the Arkansas Delta of the United States.
Her art is highly influenced by her childhood exposure to the bold expressive quality of Delta Blues, and, also, the colorful, decorative Afro-American styles of her childhood era.

These American influences are fused with those of Latin America. Dee has traveled widely in Mexico and Guatemala; consequently, her abstract work has been influenced by the color and pattern found in the folk art, textiles, architecture and natural environments of these countries.
